Data integrity
A solid data integrity framework is the foundation stone for a robust valuation process. Often, valuation data is drawn from a number of different systems, using a variety of processes. The data integrity framework should ensure the provision of accurate, complete and timely data from these sources systems all the way to the actuarial models.
Such a process will:
- Be formalised, with appropriate sign-off at various stages;
- Be cost effective and largely automated;
- Be end-to-end (from source system to the actuarial models);
- Include preventative controls (interface controls) as well as detective controls (reconciliations);
- Enable earlier identification of issues and minimise surprises; and
- Support the sign-off of data integrity and the overall audit process.
