Paul Driessen
Experience:
Paul has worked in the general insurance industry since 1990. He worked for Tillinghast-Towers Perrin between 1990 and 1998, including two years in the USA. During this time he was involved in:
- Loss reserving, particularly for long tail lines of business;
- Premium rate advice; and
- On-site advice to a large industrial risk insurer.
Paul qualified as a Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries in 1998. In the period 1998 to 2008, he worked for Insurance Australia Group in a variety of actuarial and senior management roles. In particular, from 2005 to 2008 he was the Head Actuary for the Direct Insurance business. Reporting to the CEO of Direct Insurance and to the Appointed Actuary, he had responsibility for:
- Advice on insurance liabilities for compulsory third party (CTP) insurance and short tail lines;
- Premium rating advice for compulsory third party (CTP) insurance;
- Technical pricing advice for short tail lines of business;
- Budgeting and forecasting; and
- Management information and reporting processes.
For the years 2003 to 2006 he was a member of the Accident Compensation sub-Committee of the General Insurance Practice Committee, and twice worked on the organisation committee for the biennial Accident Compensation Seminar.
